KMC Magistrate to preside over anti-littering cases

Sep 14, 2012, 10:28 AM

A new magistrate of the Kanifing Municipal Council will with immediate effect preside over anti-littering cases within the jurisdiction, the council has said in a press release issued Thursday.

The move followed approval granted by the Chief Justice of The Gambia for the council’s magistrate to preside over the cases, the release stated.

“In order to make it easy for the council and the general public to put a system in place, the council is advising all vendors and shopkeepers, especially those along Kairaba, Sayerr Jobe Avenues and Brikama Highway to ensure that waste bins are available at their shops, which will be collected on a regular basis,” it said.

Noting that waste bins are available at the council at a discounted rate, the KMC warned that anybody found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
