The National Assembly Member for Kiang West Constituency was on Friday arrested and detained, The Point has been reliably informed.

Hon. Yahya Dibba, was arrested after the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) announced on Thursday that Dibba has been expelled from the party with immediate effect.

A press release issued by the APRC political bureau, said Hon. Dibba was found to have conducted himself in a manner that runs contrary to the rules of the APRC, and the party cannot accept such behavior from its membership.

According to the release, Hon. Dibba is therefore duly expelled in the interest of sanity within the ranks of the APRC party, as well as its support base.

At the time of going to press, it was not clear whether Hon. Dibba was released or not and efforts to reach him proved futile.

This is not the first time the APRC has expelled its National Assembly members.

In September 2008, the ruling party expelled its National Assembly member for Nianija constituency Dawda Manneh.

Also in October 2011, the APRC expelled its National Assembly member for Lower Niumi constituency.

Cherno Cham, according to the APRC party, got his dismissal after a serious breach of the APRC code of conduct, which it said is unacceptable to members of the APRC party.
