Intermediate Football Referring Course In URR

In an effort to improve the standards of referring in the country, the Gambia Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with the Africell Cellular Company Ltd, regional sports committees and the offices of the Chairman, Basse Area Council will organise a week-long Intermediate Football Referring Course for the referees in the Upper River Region (URR), at the Regional Education Conference Centre in Basse.

The training is billed for August 15th to the 20th 2009.

"During the period, the participants will receive lectures on the qualities of a good referee, role and the principles of refereeing, the laws of the game and report writing,"  according to a press release signed by Abdou Salaam Jammeh of the Gambia Football Association.

The five-day training programme will be directed by Messrs Bai Jobe and Jerreh Faye, a retired FIFA Referees and CAF refereeing instructors.

The second Vice-President of the Gambia Football Association, Mr. Omar Sompo Ceesay and the Executive Governor of URR, Alhagie Omar Khan are expected to make a statement at the occasion.

A handsome number of 30 participants drawn from the region would attend the training programme.

The Gambia Football Association attaches great importance to the training and technical development of referees, coaches, sport medicine and football administrators and the week-long training programme, is a testimony to this fact.
