Hotel Worker Testifies in Theft Case

Prosecutor Gomez on Monday called on his first prosecution witness one Foday Jarju to testify in the case involving Lamin Jarju who is standing trial for theft.

Testifying, the prosecution witness Foday Jarju, told the court that he lives at Bakau Sanchaba and is a hotel worker and that he recognized the accused. He said on that fateful day he call the accused and sent him to Casamance in a village called Albadarin.

Further testifying, PW1 adduced that he gave the accused four bags of rice to take it to his aunty, Surreh Jassey, and D10, 000 CFA was delivered to the accused with the promise to take the goods.

"I gave him D50 for each bag for transport and two days later I called home to enquire whether the said goods were delivered to my aunty and the answer from my aunty was I don't see anything," he narrated to the court.

According to PW1 he was searching for the accused and later reported the matter to Bakau Police Station and gave them the destination of the accused at Tujereng.

Adducing evidence PW1 informed the court that he found the accused at one compound in Bundung and asked him, and he replied that he had already gone and come back from the village.

He said he finally took him to Bakau police Station were he recorded his statement.
