africa » gambia
Monday, March 30, 2009

The President of The Gambia Weightlifting, Power Lifting and Bodybuilding Association, Musa Koteh, left Banjul yesterday for Spain to attend the international weightlifting congress set to kick off on Tuesday in Madrid.

Shortly before his departure, Musa told Pointsports that Gambia's participation in the congress will enable him to meet representatives of different countries to exchange ideas with them.

He pointed out that he will also facilitate Gambia's participation in their first international Weightlifting qualifying round slated for 3rd May 2009.

"The lifters are already training in preparation of the event"

Koteh seized the opportunity to commend Africell for sponsoring his trip to Spain and recently to Tunis, where he also represented The Gambia in the Weightlifting Federation Africa electoral congress.

The event, which took place from 4-6 February 2009  elected Khaled Mohammed Mahlhel, president of the Libyan Weightlifting, Powerlifting & Bodybuilding federation as new president of the continental body.

Musa Koteh is expected in Banjul on April 3rd.
