Changes in diplomatic service

Omar Gibril Sallah, alias O.G. Sallah, the Permanent Secretary at the Personnel Management Office (PMO), has been appointed as The Gambia's Ambassador to Sierra Leone, covering Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire, according to official sources.

He replaces Dembo Badjie, who moved to Saudi Arabia to replace Lamin Kiti Jabang, who has been recalled.

OG Sallah has served in the country's diplomatic service for 17 years, and was Permanent Secretary at various ministries, including the office of the Vice-President, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Fisheries.

Our sources also revealed that Baboucarr Jallow, former Minister of Trade and Employment, has been appointed as The Gambia's Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, replacing Momodou Sainey Badjie.

Gibril Joof, who was The Gambia's High Commissioner to Senegal, has been transferred to Turkey, while Ex-Major General Yankuba Drammeh has been appointed as Deputy Head of Mission in Turkey.

Mr. Ismaila Sambou, former Minister of Local Government and Lands, has been appointed Gambia's High Commissioner to Senegal, while Alieu Ngum, the Chairman of National Planning Commission has been appointed as The Gambia's Ambassador to the US, the sources added.

Meanwhile reports monitored over GRTS last evening indicates that Mr. Momodou S. Kah, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture had been relieved of his appointment as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and now appointed as an ambassador with from 23rd April 2010. He has been replaced by Kalifa Kambi with immediate effect.

Reports also indicated that Lieutenant Nfally Jabang of the Republican National Guards has been dismissed from the Gambia Armed Forces with immediate effect.
