As part of efforts to support first Gambian athlete, Mariama T Jallow's participation in the 2009 'Race for Life' in Watford on the 28th July 2009, the Brufut Marathon Committee intends to use a rigorous media campaign to gather funds for the event.

The President of The Brufut Marathon Committee, Ba Jabbi, told Pointsport that they will rally more support to this end  by using a rigorous media campaign and  write to institutions to gather  funds meant to support Brufut Marathon Run Association, a charitable organisation, and part of the funds would be donated to 'Cancer Research UK'.

According to Mamudou Max Jallow, BMRA International Relations officer instead of sport journalist as referred to this paper last week, the event is a female race organized all over UK.

He said the Watford event is aimed to raise £34,500.00 (Thirty Four Thousand Five Hundred Pounds) and any amount Mariama raises towards this would be very significant.

He enjoins Gambians and non-Gambians to sponsor her with any amount they could give.

Mariama who emerged winner of the 8 km race in last year's Brufut Marathon Run, has already registered to take part in the 10-kilometre category.
