Mamudou Max Jallow, executive secretary of the National Sports Council, began by thanking members of the cycling association for their hard work in the past four years, as well as the cyclists without whom he said the cycling association would not have been at the level it is today.

He said: “The Cycling Association has been dormant as far as organising national competitions is concerned and you still have a lot to do but with your collective work I am sure the progress of cycling in the country will be un-measurable.”

In delivering his report, the out-going secretary general, Momodou Demba, said: “Today marks the beginning of a new quadrennial period in which our commitments to cycling in The Gambia and advancement will be placed on a renewed path.”

Mr Demba said he was happy to see all the members of the cycling association in attendance because “this congress gives them the unique and collective opportunity only to review their activities by equally measuring their success and challenges over the preceding four years”.

Baboucarr Jabai, the outgoing treasurer, also presented the financial report, while outgoing PRO Edrisa Sah announced the names of the registered cyclists with the association, the names of the executive committee members and the co-opted members of the association.
