Backstage’s one-year anniversary celebrated in grand style

ENC, king of dancehall, and G Clip Entertainment on 28 January celebrated in grand style the one-year anniversary of a show called Backstage, at the Alliance-Franco Gambienne on Kairaba Avenue.
Backstage, which showcases Gambian hidden talents in music aired on West Coast Radio 93.5, is geared towards promoting Gambian music both within and outside the shores of the country.

The night of the celebration was one of talent show that made everyone present there did dine and wine till daybreak.

The occasion was enthralled with the kinds of music that have the power to even heal the sick and let the poor forget their frustrations.

Alliance-Franco Gambienne was filled by a youthful population who cherish what dancehall king ENC is doing.

The founder of G Clic Entertainment, G Faal, who is behind ENC, said ENC is a friend from start, who has been very dedicated to his music career.

He also said he was very impressed with the turnout at the night show of celebration, adding that they would try to be doing it every year.

For his part, Badibunka, the ‘Mandinka warrior’, said the programme was fantastic and that Backstage is a programme that exposes hidden talents, which is an achievement in the Gambian music industry.

Vex Sa D Junior from the Ghetto Revolution, for his part, said: “As long as the people are here in their large numbers to grace the show and are feeling the vibes, we are very impressed and are working hard to lift the flag of the music industry and of the country higher.”

The man of the night, ENC, said he was “very happy” to see that his fans did keep their promise by turning out in large numbers to attend the event.  “Backstage is here for the people,” he said, while thanking the donors for their support and all those who made it to the show.

The show, graced by a line-up of Gambian artistes, was sponsored by the nation’s number one GSM company - Africell.
