One Alhagie Sawaneh, a resident of Wellingara village recently testified before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates' Court in an assault case involving one Bakary Trawalley.

In his testimony, Mr Sawaneh told the court that sometime in 2009 at Churchill's Town, he was informed that the accused Bakary Trawalley was arrested and detained at the Mobile Traffic Unit following an assault he allegedly committed againsta police officer, Ramatoulie Jallow, by slapping and beating her whilst executing her duty.  He adduced that he went to the Mobile Traffic Unit where he paid an amount of D1000 as a fine in order to get back his vehicle from the Mobile Traffic Unit.

According to Mr. Sawaneh the event happened when his driver was coming from Banjul towards Tabokoto end.

Consequently the case was adjourned to 10th June 2009.
