The rape case involving one Lamin Ceesay continued recently at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.

The case continued with the cross-examination of the fifth prosecution witness (PW5), Buba Camara, by the Legal Aid counsel.

The witness told the court under cross-examination that the alleged rape did not happen in his presence, and he did not see the accused performing sex with the victim.

“I was told by the victim that she was raped by the accused person,” the witness told the court.

“I did not live in the same compound with the accused and the victim, but I was among the first three people who arrived at the scene in Sinchu,” Camara said, adding that the accused was arrested by the police.

At the station, the accused denied having sex with the victim.

“All what I said was the truth. I never had any problem with the accused and why should I lie against him,” he stated. The case continues.

It would be recalled that the accused person some time in 2012, in Sinchu village, allegedly had carnal knowledge of an underage girl, a charge he had since denied.
