Alleged impersonation case proceeds

The case of impersonation involving one Goroji Camara proceeded recently at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Babucarr Secka.

Testifying, the first prosecution witness, Anthony B. Mendy, told the court that he resides at Brikama Jamissa and he is a teacher.

He said he recognised the accused and on 1 March 2011, he was at Brikama Durumeh Kolong in the compound of one Elly Mendy.

The witness added that the accused identified himself as Inspector Camara and was sitting under a Mango tree with some of his friends.

He testified that the accused while smoking had quarrels among themselves, adding that the accused and his friends later entered into Elly's house where the accused broke a bottle.

He revealed that there was a push and pull between the accused and his friend and he (the witness) got the accused out of the house and later called police from the Brikama Police Station, who eventually arrested the accused. The witness said he later made a statement at the police station.

The case at that juncture was adjourned till 27 April 2011.
