The drug trial involving one Alasana Ceesay of Farafenni could not proceed recently at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, as the accused was absent from court since he was given bail.

When the matter was called, the DLEA officer, Inspector MCA 5 Bah, told the court that since the accused person was given bail by the court, he was not coming to court.

He said by looking at the court file, the accused, nor the surety’s (Mary Ceesay) contacts, was in the court file.

They went to the accused person’s previous compound, but he was no more in that compound, and when they asked the people living there they were not ready to help.

The accused person was given a bail bond of D300,000 and his surety, Mary Ceesay, also told the officers that she had a landed property at Farafenni.

The officer went to Farafenni to locate the accused person’s surety, but later they came to know that the accused person’s surety did not have any landed property at Farafenni.

He said he was applying for an adjournment to enable them to put their house in order.

The case was adjourned until 5 April 2016.
