One Yaya Camara, accused of stealing, recently opened his defence before Magistrate E. Jaiteh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

In his evidence-in-chief, Camara told the court that he was at his co- accused person’s house, Momodou Lamin Kanyi, when one Dell and Lamin Njie came with some laptops, and Njie told him that he got the said laptops from his brother’s shop at Serrekunda.

He then told Lamin Njie that one of his elder brothers at Suba in Brikama, Abdou Ceesay, needed a laptop and asked if he could go with Njie to Ceesay’s house.

Upon their arrival at Abdou Ceesay’s house, he (the accused person) told Ceesay that Lamin Njie was selling laptops, and he left them at Ceesay’s house.

He went back to Kanyi’s house and, after Lamin Njie and Dell sold the other laptops to Ceesay, they came with the remaining ones to Kanyi’s house.

Lamin Njie gave them D300 to share, and kept the other laptops in Kanyi’s brother’s house and left.

While he was at the garage, he was informed that Kanyi had been arrested, and later he was also arrested.

Hearing continues.
