According to him, there are over 45 farms cultivated for President Jammeh across the region including rice, millet/coose and groundnuts and all are doing well. He added that he believes there will be a bumper harvest at the end of the season.
Governor Touray further revealed that President Jammeh is aiming for food self-sufficiency by making the call to go back to the land. "The only way we can overcome food insecurity is to go back to the land and farm. In that way we can drive away poverty and achieve food security," he stated.
He then thanked and commended teachers, lecturers, headmasters, principals and students who responded positively to the call to carry out voluntary work at the president's farm in Janjangbureh under the leadership of the regional education director Babucarr Suwareh.
