Jammeh Inaugurates New Fleet of Buses

In his inaugural statement, the president said that he had personally taken the initiative to address the plight of commuters. Commenting on the price hike of transport fares in the country, President Jammeh made it clear that he would not tolerate anybody who takes Gambians for granted.

President Jammeh also used the opportunity to warn the business community to be reasonable in the prices of basic commodities or otherwise he would very soon intervene in that sector in the interest of the Gambian people.

In another development, President Jammeh also launched the AHOOAH magazine of The Gambia Armed Force (GAF) at the Arch 22 in Banjul.

President Jammeh described the magazine as a medium of communication designed to create a bond of understanding within the military and the civil society. Speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces, Major General Lang Tombong Tamba described the magazine as insightful and urged the Armed Forces to make use of it.

According to information gathered, school children can pay as low as D185 as their monthly fares. Other commuters will pay less than what the normal taxi charge.
