Lamin R. Darboe, a one-time UDP candidate for Kombo East constituency, is today expected at the Brikama Magistrates' Court.
Darboe has been charged with assault nearly two years ago but headway is still to be made in the case since its mention in 2006.
It would be recalled that the Brikama Magistrates' Court had issued several warnings to the prosecution to put its house in order for an expeditious prosecution of the matter. The prosecution had repeatedly failed in making good its promises of bringing in their witnesses.
Meanwhile, Darboe was arrested shortly after the results of the 2006 Kombo East bye-elections were announced and charged alongside others for assault.
