14 Cuban Doctors End Tour of Duty in The Gambia

The Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital on Wednesday bid farewell to 14 Cuban medical personnel who have ended two years of duty in the country.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark their stay in the country, where certificates were also awarded to the doctors, thePRO of the RVTH, Alh. Babucarr Ngum, stated that the certificates of merit awarded to the doctors was meant for the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare and RVTH in particular to show appreciation to the personnel for the service they rendered to the country over the past two years.

He pointed out that the Cuban doctors, during their tour of duty in the country, have devoted all their time to the Gambian people.

For his part, Professor Addy of Laboratory Services also commended the doctors for the good work they did in the country during their stay.

According to PRO Ngum, after the departure of this team they are expecting another team of Cuban medical doctors soon.

The ceremony was attended by the heads of units of the RVTH.
