Two arraigned for damaging property

Eliyasa Darboe and Musa Darboe were recently arraigned before Magistrate Jallow of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing and willful damage to property.

They denied the charges, and the case was adjourned to 29 September 2011.

Meanwhile, the first accused was granted a court bail of D10, 000 with a Gambian surety with an ID card, while the second accused was remanded in custody for having a pending matter in court.

According to the charge sheet on count one, on 17 September 2011 at Bakau Badala in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused persons, Eliyasa Darboe and Musa Darboe, stole several iron bars from the Bakau Badala Bridge valued at D3,000, the property of the Bakau community.

Count two stated that they damaged the Bakau Badala Bridge and thereby committed an offence.
