Trial of supposed Babylon alkalo adjourned

The criminal trial involving Lamin B. Jarju, supposed alkalo of Babylon Village, was recently adjourned, at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Abeke.

Jarju is standing trial on charges of impersonating a public servant, making false document and altering false document.

When the case was announced, state counsel E. Jaiteh informed the court that the case had suffered several adjournments without proceeding.

He said he was with his witness in court, but the defence counsel, Borry Touray, was not in court, adding that his witness was a busy man and could not be coming to court without the matter proceeding.

The case was then stood down and when recalled, the defence counsel appeared and told the court he was having another matter at the High Court that was why he came late.

At that juncture, the case was adjourned till 12 July 2011.
