Thursday, April 08, 2010

After five days of an intensive training camp organised by the Gambia Table Tennis Association, in partnership with the International Table Tennis Federation, participants from the association are now heading towards another programme as the tournament organisation course take centre stage at the Sea View Hotel today.

"I am very much impressed with the level of improvement of the participants in the first part of the course," says the man at the helm of affairs, Ortega Montes, a Spanish expert who is in Banjul under the instruction of the International Table Tennis Association.

Montes went further to single out few star players, such as Lamin Sawaneh, Ebrima Ceesay, aka C.K, Lamin Drammeh and Buba Jawara for demonstrating a high sense of intelligence, improvement and maturity during the first part of the training camp, which goes to show their competence.

Meanwhile, Lamin Sawaneh, one of the participants who decided to join the Gambia Table Tennis Association from the Gambia Lawn Tennis Association last year described the training camp as a success, given the fact that he and his colleagues were able to learn a lot during the course of the week.

The tournament organisation course, which is expected to last for 3 days, according to the Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Table Tennis Association, Ndey Busso, will present the participants with the unique opportunity to learn many important areas of table tennis within the next 3-days.

Busso, who is also in camp with the participants, described the first part of the course as a success.

She remained positive about the successful completion of what she referred to as a high-profile training programme for the table tennis association.
