Sports tribunal goes public

The Sports Tribunal, which is currently in session at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hotel in Bakau after its establishment in March 2011, has now gone public.

 Sittings will be held on Tuesday 21 June and Wednesday 22 June 2011 starting at 4.00pm and is open to members of the public.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, it would be recalled, with the powers vested on him by the Sports Council Act 2000, section 24 (2), appointed seven people as members of the tribunal with effect from 10 March 2011.

Justice Lamin Jobarteh (High Court Judge) is the Chairman, His Worship Dawda Jallow, is the Secretary to the tribunal.

 Other members are Ebrima Sanneh, legal practitioner; Mustapha Carayol, Chairman of IEC; Charles Thomas, former Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council; Cherno B. Touray, former Director of Youth and Sports; and Sainabou Kujabi-Njie, President of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia.
