The Bundung Magistrates’ Court on Monday transferred a murder case and concealment of birth case involving one Mam Juwna Manga to the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.

When the case was called, the prosecuting officer applied for the case to be transferred to the High Court, as the lower court “lacks” the jurisdiction to try the accused.

The prosecutor’s application was granted and the case was subsequently transferred to the Special Criminal Court.

It was alleged on count one that the accused person, Mam Juwna Manga, on 24 December 2011, at SerreKunda, within the jurisdiction of the court, caused the death of her newly-born baby by throwing him at the Bakoteh Bridge.

Count two stated that on 24 December 2011, at Serrekunda, she unlawfully concealed her newly-born baby by putting him in a nylon bag and disposed of him at the Bakoteh Bridge.
