Following his recent pronouncement of an imminent major government shake-up, President Yayha Jammeh yesterday relieved Musa Gibril Balla Gaye, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, of his Cabinet appointment with effect from Tuesday 9th June 2009. In the same vein President Jammeh has also decided to revoke the nomination of Mrs. Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay, Speaker of the National Assembly, as a member of the National Assembly with immediate effect, according to news monitored over GRTS last evening.

It could be recalled that Yankuba Touray, Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources and minister responsible of National Assemble matters was the first to be given the sack. The sacking of Abdou Kareem Savage, Chief Justice of The Gambia followed on Monday.
