Real de Banjul winless campaign continues with goalless draw

Friday, January 27, 2012

GFA division one league giants Real de Banjul’s winless campaign continued on Wednesday evening  with a goalless draw against Bakau giant killers Steve Biko in the Week 2 fixtures of the GFA topflight league played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Real, who are enduring yet another dismal start to the 12-club league championship, recorded the biggest defeat in the opener fixtures following a 2-nil loss to the military squad Armed Forces.

However, the city boys’ hope of putting that disappointing start behind them has suffered yet another setback following Biko’s stalemate result two days ago in the middle of some terrible poor finishing in which Real had the better part of the chances.

Elsewhere, Brikama United, who are the reigning champions, are not having a good commencement of the league after two consecutive draws have seen them only collect 2 points out of possible six points.

The Sateba boys, as they are affectionately called, began the league with a goalless draw against Gamtel at KG5 Mini-stadium in Banjul, which was followed by their 1-1 draw with promoted side Hawks in Banjul.

Armed Forces lost 1-nil to Gamtel at the Father Joseph Gough Sports Complex in Manjai.
