Rainbow Club to Stage Scrabble Championship

africa » gambia
Monday, June 01, 2009

Rainbow Scrabble Club based in Latrikunda Sabiji in collaboration with the National Sports Council will on Saturday 6th June 2009 organise a one-day scrabble competition at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

In an interview with Pointsport yesterday, Bernard Johsyn, the coordinator of Rainbow Club, said the ultimate aim of organising this competition is to make the Gambia Scrabble Association more active and vibrant in playing the game, and to help them to work on their grammar and language.

He stated that clubs that are interested in registering for the competition could contact Mr. Abdul Aziz Mendy, Development Officer, National Sports Council and that registration fee is D100.

Mr. Johsyn pointed out that The Gambia from 26th-29th November this year will take part in the World Scrabble Championship to be held in Malaysia.

He said after the World Championship they will visit all local clubs that are registered and provide them with the rules and regulations of the game.
