Prosecution witness testifies in court

The first prosecution witness, one Babucarr Touray recently testified at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate J.A. Effim in the criminal trial of being in possession of "housebreaking equipment's" involving one Momodou Bah.

Testifying before the court, Sub-Inspector Touray told the court that he is a police officer attached to Old Yundum Police Station.

He told the court that he recognised the accused and could recall on 3rd January 2010.

According to him, on that particular date he was on duty at the Old Yundum Police Station when the accused was brought by a group of people, accusing him of entering into the premises of one Mbaye Jawo with intent to steal.

Sub-Inspector further adduced that the accused was searched at the station and a screwdriver, knife and a plier were found in his pocket. He added that the said items were taken from him before he was cautioned and charged with the said offence.

The case was adjourned to 1st April 2010.
