British National Gets Suspended Sentence

The Bundung Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate Lamin Goerge recently bound a 40-year-old British National, Scot Carbo to keep the peace for a period of two years.

According to the particulars of offence on 28th February 2010, at Churchill Bar and Restaurant at Kololi, the accused Scot Carbo wilfully and unlawfully assaulted one Alex Richard by hitting him on the face.

The accused without wasting the court's time pleaded guilty to the charge, prompting the prosecuting officer, CPL Ceesay to narrate the facts of the case.

The facts as narrated by CPL Ceesay, revealed that the incident happened, on 28th February 2010, at Churchill Bar and Restaurant in Kololi.

He said while the complainant, Alex Richard was at the said bar with his friends the accused attacked by giving him a blow on the face, and as result the complainant fell down and started bleeding.

He further narrated that the victim was taken to Kotu Police Station, where he was provided with a police escort to Serrekunda Health Centre.

Subsequently, he said the accused was arrested, cautioned and charged with the offence committed.

Defence Counsel, Siney Riley mitigated on behalf of the accused person.
