New Vice-Chairperson for National Women's Council

The National Women Councilors recently unanimously elected Mrs. Fatou S. Trawally Jobarteh as the new vice chairperson of the National Women's Council.

The new vice chairperson was elected by her women folk recently during the just ended training and orientation of women councilors held at Paradise Suites Hotel. The purpose of the training and orientation was for the women councilors to know their roles and responsibilities in national development.

Speaking to this reporter, the new vice chairperson of the National Women's Council, Mrs. Fatou S. Trawally Jobarteh, confirmed her appointment. When asked about how she feels about her new position, Mrs. Jobarteh said it was welcome news for her and she thanked her colleagues for electing her as the new vice chairperson of the National Women's Council. She also thanked the executive director of the Women's Bureau, Mrs. Ida Fye Hydara, and the chairperson of National Women's Council, Mrs. Fatou Mbye, for their concerns regarding the welfare of the Gambia Women. Mrs. Jobarteh promised her colleagues that she will live up to expectations and also called on them to always guide her. Prior to her new position, Mrs. Fatou S. Trawally Jobarteh was the lady councilor for Lower Fulladu West Constituency in the Central River Region (CRR). Both the executive director of the Women's Bureau and chairperson of the National Women's Council confirmed Mrs. Jobarteh's new position to The Point Newspaper and Mrs. Jobarteh is to serve a period of three years according to the National Women's act.
