NBR Are Athletic Champions

The Hosts of the 2008 National Youth Conference and Festival, North Bank Region, have grabbed another gold in Athleticsafter a narrow victory over fellow contenders on Monday in Farafenni.

They made it after recording 170 points, two points ahead of KMC who emerged second with 168 points. Western Region was third with 164 points followed by Lower River Region who scored 98points.

Banjul, Central River Region and Upper River Region came out fifth, sixth and seventh with 74, 33 and 7 points respectively.

NBR's first goal medal was in Wrestling and they are potential finalists in the football championship if they beat KMC in the semis. This match was going on yesterday evening as we went to press.

Vice champions, Western Region have already booked their ticket to the final after thrashing Banjul 3-0 yesterday and might meet defending champions NBR today in the football final.

Defending champions in Basketball, Banjul, will lock horns with KMC today in the Basketball final of the National Youth Conference and Festival.

Both sides will also meet in the Volleyball final for the male category later today.

In the female side, Banjul will meet Western Region also as part of today's finals.

The bi-annual event is expected to end on Wednesday December 24th 2008.
