Friday, January 29, 2010

In its efforts to find a lasting solution to the perennial power struggle bedeviling the scout movement in The Gambia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, decided to dissolve the National Scout Council and the Interim Executive Committee of The Gambia Scout Association with immediate effect.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, an Interim Task force will be constituted in earnest to take charge of the affairs of the association until further notice.

Meanwhile, all affected individuals of the dissolution exercise are to write their handing over notes and surrender anything in their possession that belongs to the Scout Association to the Director of Youth and Sports at the Independence Stadium with immediate effect.

Subsequently, the release added, "The inspector General of Police is duly informed and his assistance sought for compliance with this order."
