One
Babucarr Ceesay, a 47-year-old Senegalese national from the Casamance region,
was on Tuesday morning reported to have set himself ablaze at Fajara in the
Kanifing Municipality.
According
to witnesses’ account, the victim, said to be a Muslim fanatic, was seen in the
early hours of Tuesday coming from the mosque entering the sentry where he used
to sleep but after about two hours, they saw smoke exiting from the sentry.
As
they arrived at the scene, they found Babucarr lying covered with a bale of
burning clothes burnt without recognition.
He
was immediately taken to the Serekunda Hospital where he lost his life.
Meanwhile,
Ndemba Hydara and Ebou Corr disclosed that the victim, Babucarr Ceesay, came to
The Gambia some years ago and had no wife or relatives in the country.
