Man In court for Allegedly Selling False Vaccine

africa » gambia
Wednesday, February 25, 2009

One George Smith of Kololi village, who has been charged with the offence of obtaining money by false pretence, on 24th February 2009, had his charge sheet amended following the application made by the prosecuting officer, Corporal Njai.

The accused George Smith is now charged with the offence of felony.

According to the amended charge sheet on the 2nd June 2008, at Kololi, the accused had obtained money from one Alimamy Jagana, by selling false animal vaccines to him, knowing the said vaccine to be false. The accused pleaded not guilty to the allegation preferred against him.

The prosecuting officer objected to bail on the ground that since the accused person started to absent himself from the court the prosecution has not received any reasons for those absence. The trial Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates' Court, overruled the prosecution objection, and restored the accused person bail in the sum of D20,000 with two sureties who shall deposit their national I.D. Card and reachable to the court.

The case was then adjourned to a later date.
