Man arraigned for alleged burglary, stealing

A man called Muhammed Touray was recently arraigned before Magistrate Jobarteh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of housebreaking and stealing.

The charge sheet in count one read that the accused, Muhammed Touray, on 3 April 2015 at Bakoteh in the Kanifing Municipality, broke into the house of one Muhammed Suwareh with intent to steal.

Count two stated that on the same date and place, he stole from the house of the said Muhammed Suwareh five mobile phones marked Samsung value unknown, Black Berry valued at D500, Nokia valued at D400, Samsung galaxy valued at D8,000 and a Nokia double SIM cards valued at D1,500.

The alleged stolen properties were said to be that of Muhammed Suwareh, Muhammed Sillah, Buba Sissoho and Hagi Sillah.

He denied the charge, and was granted court bail of D11,000 with a Gambian surety, who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit an ID card.

The case was adjourned to 22 April 2015.
