In his quest to settle the dispute between Gunjur Link Committee and Gunjur Development Committee, the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Ruler, Momodou Akeh Bayo, has appealed to the old guards of Gunjur Link Committee to step down and join the new members to contribute towards the development of the village.

Mr Bayo made this remark at a meeting held at the residence of the Alkalo in Gunjur on Sunday.

Noting that Gunjur has been known for the pursuit of education, he called on the residents to come together as one people and work towards the development of the village.

Mr. Bayo revealed that Gunjur Link Committee should work with VDC for one month and later hand over the documents to the VDC where members of Gunjur Link Committee would be awarded for their contribution towards the development of the village.

Mr. Bayo appealed to the members of Gunjur Link Committee to step down and hand over their positions to the village, as he advised both of them to put aside their differences and work towards the development of the village.

The Alkalo of Gunjur, Alhagie Sulayman Touray, who said he wants peace to prevail in the village, said Gunjur has been known for its peaceful co-existence.

Mamkamang Touray, the Secretary of Gunjur Link Committee, said the composition of the current Gunjur Development Committee is not in line with the Local Government Act, adding that it is not properly established.

Bai Bojang and Dr. Bakary Nyambi Touray, former members of Gunjur Link Committee, both urged the current Gunjur Link Committee to step down.
