Latriya alkalo applauds Liemer College students

The Alkalo of Latriya Village in the Kombo North Western Region, Burama Darboe has applauded the students of Liemer College in Holland for constructing a playing ground centre for the village's nursery school at a tune of D75, 000.

Mr. Burama Darboe who was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the playing ground described the student as real partners of his village, noting that the students came all the way from Holland to construct a playing ground for Gambian students.

He pointed out that the students, who are friends of Latriya has contributed immensely towards the empowerment of their community, particularly the women by rescuing them from trekking long distances to attain health delivering system.

According to him, the rapid development his village had gained from the donors is a clear indication that they are real partners of The Gambia. He then urged the Liemer College students to continue their relationship with the people of The Gambia.

He further commended "Hands Together For The Gambia," through Henk Herdrids and Herbert Damen of Holland, without whose support, he added, it would not have been possible. 

For his part, the Mr. Alassan Jah, the National Coordinator in The Gambia expressed similar sentiments, while commending the students for their wonderful gesture. He further highlighted some of the numerous developments that "Hands Together For The Gambia" brought for the community of Latriya. This, he added, include health centre, construction of a nursery school, Borehole, among other facilities.

Mr. Jah used the opportunity to advise the community of Latriya to take ownership of the facilities.
