Lady In Court For Common Assault, Threatening Violence

The Brikama Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate Fred Foster recently heard a criminal case of common assault and threatening violence brought against one Awa Nget of Old Yundum.

According to the particulars of the offence, on count one, on 2nd September 2009, at Old Yundum Market in Kombo North, the accused Awa Nget wilfully and unlawfully assaulted one Haddy Nyang by slapping her on the face.

While count two states that, on 2nd September 2009, at Old Yundum market in Kombo North, the accused took a knife and threaten to stab one Haddy Nyang with it.

When the charges were read to her, she pleaded guilty to count one and not guilty to count two.

Meanwhile, she was granted court bail in the sum of D25, 000, with a Gambian surety.

The case was adjourned to 12th September 2009.
