Juventus FC on Monday 2nd September 2013 played a goalless draw with Falcons FC, in their opening game of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetan competition.

Juventus FC ended the game with 10 men when Bubacarr Juwara was sent off after being shown a second bookable offence, and given his matching orders by central referee Muhammed Marigo for matching off the field of play before being substituted, and also using abusive language against the referee.

Both teams have now collected each a point in a single game.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Ebrima Gomez, head coach of Juventus FC, said his team performed well during the game, but expressed dissatisfaction with the expulsion of Bubacarr Jawara, adding that they had already effected the changes.

He stated that all teams in their group drew their first games, further noting that they prepared well for their opening game of the competition, but were unfortunate not to find the back of the net as they had created chances during the encounter.

He also noted that their first priority is to qualify from the group stages, and then see what happens next.

Gomez added that their next encounter would be harder, but added that they would not be relegated this season as they are a big team, and have also prepared better this year.

He called on fans to rally behind the team, while calling on the new committee to work harder in order to develop the park.

Jim Kebbeh, Falcons FC head coach, said they prepared well for the game knowing the kind of team they were supposed to meet, describing Juventus FC as a big team.

He remarked that he was satisfied with the performance of his team, but dissatisfied with the result, noting that they should have utilized their chances to win the game.

Their target, he went on, is to compete for trophies this season, looking at the caliber of players they have at their disposal this year.

He said he was not in charge last season when the team was being relegated, and that his aim is to work hard and win trophies for the team now that he is in charge.

Earlier on Sunday1st September 2013, in the 5pm kick off, R.S.L Zurich drew goalless with New Germany FC while Culture FC also drew 1-1 with Jola Kunda FC in the 3pm encounter of the same day.
