Immigration Officer Trial Adjourned

The trial involving Modou Manneh the Immigration office on Tuesday resumed at the Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.

However the case could not proceed as the police prosecutor CPL 1260 Colley told the court that the prosecution was yet to receive the case file.

He therefore applied for an adjournment and his application was granted.

Meanwhile the case was adjourned to 17th February 2009.

It could be recalled that the accused Modou Manneh, an Immigration officer between February 2005 and December 2006 at Yundum Police station by virtue of his employment officer responsible for revenue collection was alleged to have stolen the sum of one million, nine hundred thousand and eight hundred being the property of The Gambian government.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was since being granted court bail in the sum of one million, five hundred thousand with a Gambian surety.
