Wednesday, April 08, 2009

The leader of the opposition Gambia Peoples Democratic Party (GPDP) has extended a congratulatory message to Senegalese President Abdoulie Wade on his country's 49th independence anniversary, which was celebrated last Saturday 4th April 2009.

Mr Gomez, who was speaking with The Point in an interview yesterday, expressed on his behalf and on behalf of his party, his deepest and warmest greetings to President Wade, his cabinet and the entire people of Senegal.

He described President Wade as a real democratic and patriotic politician whose love for his country and the rest of Africa is highly commendable.

"My party is really proud to congratulate President Wade because he is a real democratic and patriotic politician", he said while urging all Senegalese to give President Wade the needed support to continue the good work he has started for Senegal, NEPAD, and the African continent at large.

The GPDP leader also used the occasion to appeal to all Senegalese and Gambians to live together as one family.
