GNOC In Partnership with Africell Cerebrate 2009 Olympic Day

The annual Olympic Day Run, organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee in the form of road races in different categories is billed for Saturday July 4th 2009.

Until today, according to a press release from the GNOC, "the Olympic Day Run has been a firm pillar of the celebration of the Olympic Day throughout the world, and it is the biggest massive sports in the world organised to cerebrate the Olympic Movement (IOC)"

This year's event is said to be staged in partnership with Africell, and schools in the Greater Banjul Area are expected to participate in the event which will bring togethera total of about 1000 participants in 3km, 5km and 10km categories.

The run is expected to start at the Africell Head Ofice and a similar run will take place in LRR and URR.

The Olympic Day is a great opportunity for a large audience to experience the Olympic values and live the Olympic experience outside games times.

The theme for this year is "Youth Empowerment Against Drugs and Alcohol".
