Thursday, June 11, 2009

Mr. Mam Fabureh, an architect residing in Lamin had established his own private company for design and drawing of building plans, fine art, interior, and exterior decoration.

The architectural company called 'Mam's Building the Nation' which was opened last year was aimed at training more youth on different areas of designing and drawing building plans.

Speaking in an interview with the Point recently at his office, the young Gambian architect said the main objective of setting this company is to bring young people together to train them on different skills. He added that his company would also bring youths together to engage themselves in something that will benefit them tomorrow.

Mr. Fabureh revealed that 44 students have successfully completed their training on different areas of architecture, noting that presently some of them are working with other organisations in the country. "Most students, he explained, are poor and that is why when I started the project, I was doing it for free of charge. At the moment, is just like a private consultancy firm where we take contracts from people like drawing plans for them", he said.

Mr. Fabureh who was a teacher at St Peter's Senior School thanked the community of Lamin for their wonderful support. Mr. Fabureh who is also a member of the National Council for Arts and Culture exhibited a lot of cultural festivals in the country. The Gambian architect on Monday 8 June presented a designed stadium to the President at a ceremony held at State House.
