Gambia stun Sierra Leone in African U-20 Qualifiers

The Gambia on Saturday beat Sierra Leone 2-0 in the first leg of the 2017 African U-20 Youth championship qualifiers played in Makeni, Sierra Leone.

The Darling Scorpions booted Shooting Stars out of the 2011 African U-20 Youth championship qualifiers prior to their Saturday’s West African derby clash in Makeni for a place in the second round against North African giant Morocco.

Generation Football duo Bunn Sanneh and Abdoulie Jallow were on target for the Darling Scorpions in the game.

The Darling Scorpions need only a draw in the return leg in Banjul in a fortnight to advance to the second round against Morocco following their resounding victory over the Shooting Stars in the first leg in Makeni on Saturday.

The Shooting Stars need to overturn the 2-0 deficit in the return leg in Banjul a fortnight to sail to the second round against Morocco after their defeat to the Darling Scorpions in the first leg in Makeni on Saturday.

The 2017 African U-20 Youth Championship will be hosted by Zambia.
