Four NAPSA members charged, remanded

Four members of the National Patriotic Students Association (NAPSA) were yesterday remanded at Mile 2 central prison by acting-principal Magistrate Taiwo Alagba of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court.

Denis T. Gomez, Jarga E. Gaye, Babucarr Jallow and Fatou Yaffa were arraigned and charged with conspiracy, forgery and uttering false documents.

They pleaded guilty to count one, but denied the rest of the counts.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, Denis T. Gomez, Jarga E. Gaye, Babucarr Jallow and Fatou Jaffa, in March 2011 in the city of Banjul, jointly conspired to make false Victoria Shop pro-forma invoice knowing same to be false.

The charge sheet on count two stated that the accused persons in March 2011, with intent to defraud, made false Victoria Shop pro-forma invoice knowing same to be forged.

Count three indicated that in March 2011, in Banjul, the accused persons presented a Victoria Shop Pro-forma invoice with the covering letter to the Office of the President knowing that the said document was false.

The case continues today.
