Court Orders Arrest of Husband in Assault Case

One Sutay Marie on Monday 2nd March 2009 appeared before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates' Court accused of assault causing actually bodily harm.

According to the particulars of the offence, on or about the 11th January 2009 at Wellingara Village, the accused unlawfully assaulted one Jainabou Bah by hitting her with a tea glass cup on her right eye thereby causing her actual bodily harm.

When the charge sheet was read to her and interpreted to her in the language she claimed to understand, she pleaded not guilty.

Meanwhile Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh told the court in his ruling that marrying two wives the person must maintain the peace between them. He therefore ordered the police prosecutor 553 Jammeh to arrest the husband and bring him before the court on the next adjourned date, March 9th.
