Brikama United on Saturday beat embattled Serrekunda United 2-1 in week four of the fixtures for the 2014-2015 Gambia Football Federation, GFF, division one league played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Brikama United drew their opening matches against Interior and Gamtel 0-0 and 1-1 respectively.

Serrekunda United lost their two opening fixtures against Bakau United and Bombada United by 1-nil, and came into the game with the objective of a win against Brikama United to move away from the relegation zone.

Brikama United opened the scores through playmaker Ebou Kanteh, in the 22nd minute of the game from a brilliant strike to give the Sateyba boys the lead.

Right-back Hamidou Bojang came very close to extending the lead for Brikama United in the 38th minute of the game, but his shot was denied by Serrekunda United’s Yusupha Manneh.

Striker Kabba Jobe netted the second goal for Brikama United in the 42nd minute of the game, from a clinical finish from Ebou Kanteh’s excellent cross, to dash Serrekunda United’s hopes of coming back to their feet, which eventually proved to the winner for the Sateyba boys.

Ebrima Jatta’s 83rd minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for the Serrekunda-based outfit, and their third successive defeat in a row.

The reigning league and Super Cup champions Real de Banjul drew 1-1 with the newly-promoted side Bombada United at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.

Modou Lamin Taal gave Bombada FC the lead in the 50th minute of the game from a classic set piece, but Real de Banjul FC responded 3 minutes later when Madi Fatty converted from the penalty spot, after Salifu Saho brought down Alagie Bah inside the area.

Brikama United and Real de Banjul are with 5 points in three games each, Bombada United are with 4 points in three points, while Serrekunda United are still struggling at the bottom of the league table without a point in three games after losing their three opening games.
