Brikama Nawettan Qualifiers Kick-off Today

The 2009/10 Brikama Nawettan qualifiers will commence today Tuesday 23rd June 2009. Overall,  a total of 13 teams are expected to take part in preliminaries and the teams are divided into three groups. One team is expected to qualify in each group and will join the four relegated teams in the final qualifiers.

The opening game will feature Deoncs FC and Sam FC at the Brikama Mini Stadium in group A . On Wednesday 24th June Africans Light FC will battle it out with Dahaba FC in group A, on Thursday 25th June Madina will take on Sanchaba United in group B and on Friday 26th June Sambou Kunda FC will clash with Gidda FC.

Speaking to Pointsports the Secretary General of Brikama Youth and Sports Association, (BYSA), Borry Jarju, said the idea for staging qualifiers early is that they want to start their Nawettan early and finish early so that Brikama zonal team prepares well for the fourth zonal championship.

He went on to reveal that the performance of the Brikama Zonal team in last year's championship was not up to expectation and for that they will do everything possible this year to make sure the team prepare early so that they can perform to expectation.

He further revealed that this year Brikama Nawettan championship will be different from previous years and he expressed optimism that the championship will be trouble free, while he also urged all participating teams in the qualifiers to maintain discipline and a sense of tolerance during the qualifiers.
