Bar And Restaurant D.J Convicted

One Abdoulie Cham, a D.J. at Maimumia Garden Bar and Restaurant, was recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D2,000, in default to serve two months in prison by Magistrate Fred of the Brikama Magistrates' Court for common assault.

According to the facts narrated by the Police Prosecutor, Sgt 1795 Sanbujang Fatty, it happened on 24th August 2009, at Maimunia Garden Bar in Sukuta. He said the complainant Babucarr Sowe went to visit the accused's working place where they were engaged in a conversation with three others during which a quarrel ensued between the accused and the complainant.

According to him, the complainant who decided to leave the premises later returned to the said place, adding that the accused came out from the Bar and found the complainant, Babucarr Sowe on the high way with his bike, and there then the accused hit him causing him to fall down from his bicycle.

He said the matter was reported to the Brusibi Police Station and subsequently the accused was arrested and taken to the Brusubi Police Station, where he was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
