Alleged Negligent Driver Charged

Magistrate Fred Foster of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently heard a criminal case of rash and negligent conduct brought against one Nfansu Toura, a resident of Mandinaba Village.

According to the charge sheet, on 25th August 2009, at Mandinaba Gibonro Highway, the accused Nfansu Touray drove a motor vehicle with a registration number BJL 2547 F, in a rash and negligent manner, and thereby caused the death of one Alhagie Babou Mass.

When the charge sheet was read and interpreted to him in the language he claimed to understand, he pleaded not guilty.

Meanwhile, the accused was granted court bail in the sum of D500, 000, with two Gambian sureties.
