Two Get Custodial Sentence

Ebrima Ndong and Ebrima Cham, both from Brikama, were recently convicted and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for the offence of shop breaking and stealing.

The convicts were said to have stolen a five-voltage stabilizer, being the property of Fatou Kambai. Following their plea of guilty to the offence they were convicted and sentenced accordingly.

In a related development, one Habibou Ndong of Brikama was also recently convicted and sentenced by the Brikama Magistrates' Court to 18 months imprisonment for shop breaking and stealing.

According to the facts of the case, on 13th August 2008 at Brikama the convict broke into and stole from the shop of one Ejiki Sunday, a Nigerian national, one DVD valued at D1500, 15 Nigerian movies valued at D500 and a Play Station Cassette recorder valued at D1200.

Both cases were presided over by Magistrate John Njie of Brikama Magistrates' Court.
